Ooh-er! That doesn't sound quite right - though I think graphics in Photoshop would probably revert to the right proportions on another screen... but then you'd never see what you're doing quite the right way...
Have you tweaked the screen settings in Control Panel? And generally there are settings that come with the monitor - have you tried its own menu yet?
