If not, it seems to snow that night.
We make the costumes big to fit over snowsuits (just in case)or stick to indoor venues. Trick or treating at the malls, church and/or school festivals or private parties. Always have treats for the kids that weather the cold and come out. Some years it's absolutely balmy, but for the most part quite brisk.
We throw a Harvest Party every year at church, this year we're doing a hay ride (T pulling our trailer with a four wheeler) and I'll be doing the cake walk and diaper derby, along with games candy and prizes it's way more fun to be inside when it's cold, or even to drop by to warm up, play a few games and eat on the way to more houses.
Some even go from place to place.
