Yesterday

There is one more bud, but it won't have the chance to bloom. Maybe the frost will hold off. But I think it will need more than a week and we just don't have it.
Snow's on the mountains, it's only a matter of time.
We'll have snow by the end of the month at the very latest but frost way before that.
Time to light the fire and some candles. Start thinking about the long dark months ahead...
Hey, but that's why we live here.
Later I'll post pix of the harvest decorating we've done.

That's a beautiful rose.

We haven't had our first killing frost yet. Our dahlias are so lovely this year and they're the first to go. I'll be sad to see them die, but I DO love our distinct four seasons. =>}

I love Dahlias. Here they have to be planted every year. I guess the frozen ground just destroys the root. Same with most roses. I might be able to save them but storing them is problematical at best right now.
I used to have dinnerplate dahlias *sigh* maybe next year I'll have time to plant more flowers. I missed having cut flowers in the summer.

Oh yeah. Every Spring my J. has to plant them all, then every Fall he has to dig them up, leave them to dry in the sun and then store them in our cold room. LOTS of work. Good thing he loves them as much as I do! =>}

Some years they're really big. This year they were just a normal size, but so very profuse! =>}

The grumpy guy would rather buy new ones every year...I think he lives in hope that I'll forget.

Yikes! My J. and I are FAR too thrifty for that! Besides, we kind of look for cool ones in the Spring and can't wait to see our favourites from other years in bloom.

If you'd like to see more photos of them, you can HERE in my Facebook flower photo album. =>}
