It got to be lunch time so we stopped in Girdwood, well we always stop there.There's a wonderful bakery and a pitstop.
Gotta appreciate honesty. They have wonderful handmade soaps.Place smells heavenly and the Restaurant next door has Halibut and chips to die for (and the bakery have to mention that...coconut pecan bars and brownies so dense they have the texture of bread pudding OMG hungry now).


Portage Lake with baby icebergs from the Glacier.Just before the tunnel into Whittier.



T taking a picture. Had to close the windows pretty soon after, even with the ventilation system it's kinda hard on the lungs.

Yep, all 2.5 miles of it.

Well, pretty much everyone knows "the top of the hour in, the bottom of the hour out and everything stops for the trains". They have a pretty well thought out system and four lanes to wait in. The scenery will keep you occupied. We spent the better part trying to get pictures of a pair of eagles playing in the updrafts on top of a mountain. Got some great mountain pix anyway.*g*

*sniff* Now I'm homesick. We always stopped in Girdwood for snacks on the way to and from Anchorage. Mmmm, the bakery . . .
