thanks aeri -- I had no responsibilities in church today, so I played hooky and slept in. I'd actually *forgotten* it's advent... some pastor I'll make!
Our church doesn't but we always have. Just seems to help us keep in mind the reason we celebrate. I'm gonna try and do this every day we light a candle and what each means. Hope you had a relaxing day, sometimes the responsibility and busyness rob us of our day of rest. I'm sure you'll make a wonderful pastor, after all it's about love not attendance. I was in the nursery it was lovely.
heh. that font looks *much* better on your white bg than on my green one. on my green bg, it's... painful. oi!
i'm Wiccan by religious preference, so i always say i don't have 'Christmas spirit', i have 'holiday party spirit'. but i love my decorations this year - the tree is going to look *great* against my gold and green curtains.
Solstice. although if you compare the religious stories behind the days, it's very nearly the same thing as Christmas, which is undoubtedly why the RC decided on winter solstice for 'Christmas' instead of summer solstice.
i do like decorating for this season. i don't do anything specifically different from when i was a child, because a lot of the decorating traditions - trees, stockings, etc - come from pagan traditions. about the only thing i do different is a lack of a Nativity and a star as the tree-topper instead of an angel.
well, when i can reach the tree-top. i'm a bit more height-challenged than my tree. :-)
