aerianya: (Alaska Flag Licenced Not for sharing)
Not as many pix,the card got left out of the camera. Had to be picky. Click on the pix and they should get bigger.
First up the chain saw art.

Headboard made with chain saws

Bear bench like the one seen in Whittier pix.
Next year I am getting the welcome bear with sign. (Bear Piccie for Bast.)

Sight of raceway just past entry. Also State display with large construction equipment and Police truck with flashy lights etc playing mp3s specifically "Bad Boy,bad boy what you gonna do?"

Alaska Historical Garden Assoc Display with water and a little AK RR train running through it.Very pretty up close.

(My silly son walked into this one, it messed with the auto focus. He is really way cuter than picture) Totem pole in front of Raven Hall where a lot of vendors display. You know Tupperware, Pampered Chef,Cookie Lee,stainless cookware, mops from Australia, car waxes promising to make your car like new, miracle aromatherapy , hand painted lamps, diamond willow walking sticks, etc along with conservation and club displays. We bought hair thingies that have wires in them you roll your hair into buns. We played with them all afternoon to the great disgust of grumpy guy and brain trust. All the boy said most of the day was "fair food?" "what's next?""fair food"" can we go on the rides?""fair food" 14 going on 4. A bottomless pit with a space that folds...sheesh.

Will post Native Dancers and games later.(Not many and not as good as I'd like but no card and all.)
We had a great time, ate too much fair food,Denali CreamPuffs, Bloomin'Onions,Spiral Fries,BBQ turkey legs. Kettle Corn, fudge (not as good as mine), local honey products.
My grumpy guy bought a wool sweater jacket made in Ecuador with kokopelli on the front and back for me, got pretty cold late in the evening. It was fun this year. The kids are old enough we don't have to worry about them so much, we can say "meet us here" and they will. I love responsible teenagers.

I've landed there a few times, but sadly I've only seen the inside of the airport so far... lots of bored Japanese business men and a stuffed polar bear. Or was that stuffed Japanese business men and a bored polar bear? One or the other!

When I was very little, just before we moved here I had nightmares about beening chased aroung towers of snow by polar bear.
Imagine my disgust to find out ther aren't any here. Only blackies and brownies.

I am more afraid of Polar bears, the others will avoid you if you avoid them and make enough noise and you know don't threaten their babies or territory stuff like that.
Polar bears will actively hunt you for lunch.
